"I have known Bill Dyer since we both pledged Delta Tau Delta fraternity at West Virginia University as freshmen in the fall of 1960. We survived Hell Week, hitchhiked to Atlantic City with an overnight stay along the side of the road, ROTC summer camp, attended a great many WVU football and basketball games, tailgated in Morgantown, Pittsburgh, and before many football bowl games. We were often found together at Gene's beer garden. Bill encouraged me to write and publish my first book, which took 17 years to complete (the next three only took a total of 6 years). Bill led a full, productive and interesting life, with many fascinating stories to tell. When he asked me about writing a book of his memoirs, I strongly encouraged him to document his life for family, friends and those interested in learning about life's events in the past 83 years.
