In 1911, recently promoted Detective Superintendent Andy Harrison is posted to Warwick with his wife Helen, and family.
Soon he is investigating a murder, committed by German agents based in Warwick. Andy is unaware he has been targeted by them to stop him hindering their plans, which include a counterfeit banknote operation, and more serious crimes.
Their leader, Henry Miller, is highly regarded locally. Another superintendent resents Andy's promotion and undermines his authority whenever he can.
When a young police constable takes his own life, Andy's situation is made even worse by Helen, who has become besotted with Miller. In this toxic situation, who can he trust?
