Synopsis

Do You Want To ... ?

• take advantage of the cool new features, but just don't have the time?
• impress your users?
• increase your productivity?
• upgrade to the latest release and make sure that nothing breaks?

If you answered "yes" to these questions, then this is the guide for you. It is intended for Oracle APEX developers who want to understand the new features of Oracle APEX 21.2, so they can start using them in their projects right away. You should already have some practical experience with Oracle APEX and have a few applications in use. Some new features are easy to understand even for APEX newbies. To fully use other features, you need a deeper understanding of the technology.

Oracle APEX has become an increasingly popular low-code development framework from Oracle, with cloud support built in from the start. But it can do much more and is very well suited for professional application development. It is also very attractive for former Oracle Forms developers who are looking for an alternative.

Author Dietmar Aust explains the new features, evaluates their relevance, and shows you how to implement them in an easy-to-understand way.

Avoid overwhelm by following the advice of a seasoned Oracle APEX developer
On the Internet, you can already find a lot of information about the new features of this version, but they are scattered and not accessible in a single place. Also, there is little guidance on the relevance of these features. Do I really need it, when should I use it, what is the benefit, and how is it different from existing functions?

Impress your users by leveraging modern UI technologies
The Oracle APEX development team does the heavy lifting for you. They implement modern technologies like Smart Filters and Modal Drawers that you can use in a declarative way. No code, just fun. And you don't even have to mess with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript if you don't want to.

How you can benefit by reading this book:

• You will save a lot of time because Dietmar has already researched the new features and will present the most relevant ones.
• Building modern and beautiful applications has never been easier with Oracle Application Express 21.2.
• The better you understand what's already built into the product, the less you'll struggle with the technology and the more you can focus on delivering on the customer's needs.
• When you finally update your environment, you'll understand the implications and how to do it safely.
