This compendium is a compilation of three public domain works studying Frank A. Gotch, a true pioneer of Catch-as-Catch-Can wrestling.
The first work, “Wrestling and How to Train” written Gotch himself, provides an excellent first-hand account of what Catch wrestling was as he practiced it. The book is divided into four sections, a short introduction, “Science of Wrestling” which explains the science behind the system, “Hints on Training,” and a final section consisting of 29 plates depicting techniques.
The second manuscript, “How to Wrestle”, penned by a George Robbin in 1934, consists of only a short introduction followed by 30 illustrated descriptions on executing techniques.
The third and final manual, “Wrestling: Catch-as-Catch-Can Style”, written by E. Hitchcock Jr., M. D. and R. F. Nelligan contains the shortest introduction, followed by 65 photographed techniques, described by the authors.
