Synopsis

This is the fifth book in the Eli Series. Here is the opening of the book. It is designed to show people how
our Father in Heaven uses things like sports to draw people to greatness.
Super Bowl Sunday. Wide receiver – Tommy Richardson had just played his last game with the great Herman McBrien. Minnesota had just won its first Superbowl. Tommy was standing beside Herman at the podium. The reporters were asking them all sorts of questions. Patricia Johnson asked Tommy a question that she really was not expecting the in-depth answer she would receive. “Tommy, I understand you and Herman go way back. Can you tell me how you guys met? What is your history?

Tommy smiled. “How much time do you have? It all started before Herman was born. You see, I met his parents first. Here’s how it played out.”
The morning had started like many others since I had been sick. I was a 10-year-old boy who had been an adventuress, to say the least. But for the last several months, I had been totally wiped out. My mother took me to Doctor Johnson, my pediatrician. Dr. Johnson had run a myriad of tests to figure out what was wrong. He was suspicious, so he sent me to Dr. Jonsmith for a second opinion.
That morning the phone rang. “Hello, this is Janice. Can I help you?”
“Janice, this is Dr. Johnson’s office. The test results are in. We would like you to come in today if you could?” The kind voice on the other end of the line asked.
“What time would be good?” My mom asked.
“How about one o’clock?” That was the response.
You see, I had leukemia. And I was about to have my first divine appointment. Eli’s McBriens wife Jill would save my life.” He and Herman would smile and step down off the podium with that. The friendship would last a lifetime. Now for the rest of the story.

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it.
Michael
