For the first time ever, we have clear evidence that employees are now more vital to an organisation’s success than its shareholders. Buoyed by the Coronavirus pandemic, the influence employees have on organisational success means that employee wellbeing has quickly emerged as the most significant part of a great experience at work.

Updated for 2026, ‘A Work In Progress’ brings together evidence from more than 500 studies, exclusive contributions from leading global workplace experts, and captivating advice from in-house wellbeing leaders from organisations including Ocado, Philip Morris International and Serco. This book aims to support CEOs, HR, Reward, Benefit and Wellbeing leaders to fully understand what impact their organisation is having on its people and uses some of the latest research and thinking to ensure we are building more sustainable and resilient organisations that employees want to work for and stay with.
