“Mayday” is the international distress call. It comes from the French word m’aidez, meaning “help me.” In this workbook, we’ll explain the meaning of the prayer, “God help me.” Which translates to, “I’m afraid, and I don’t know what to do.”
In this workbook we look at the chapter, A Vision For You, which, as you know, is the final chapter in the textbook portion of the book from which the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous gets its name. And while not a step in its own right, how we live life on life’s terms one day at a time in recovery is the key to permanent abstinence. You see, elimination of the active addiction is but the ante to get into the game.
Make no mistake about this. The old self doesn’t give up easily. Quitting is but a timeout for the demons. They retreat into the shadows, waiting for the opportunity that suddenly comes without warning. So, we need a program of action, design for living, and a process of recovery that works with people like us. And who are the people like us? We are the ones who have tried everything else.
Within the pages of this workbook, the reader will be educated and entertained regarding the miracle of recovery. And what is that miracle? There is hope for the hopeless.
