Global warming and climate change, while often used interchangeable, have different meanings. Global warming refers to increasing global temperatures believed by most climate scientists to be a result of human activities, primarily fossil-fuel burning that result in an increase in greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. Climate change refers to changes in the earth’s climate that are the likely result of rising temperatures. Examples of these changes are rising sea levels, shrinking mountain glaciers, ice melt in the Artic and Antarctica, wind patterns, the number and severity of hurricanes, wildfires, droughts and floods. This book will explain how we got to this point in human history and what solutions are possible to reverse the harmful effects of global warming.
The role that transports (cars, trucks, etc.), agriculture and power plants play in global greenhouse gas emissions will be discussed along with possible remedies. The thoughts of leading scientists in the field of climate science will be revealed along with the thoughts of leading intellectuals. A 20-page pictorial of awe-inspiring photos of Glacier National Park taken by the author in 2011, occupy the center portion of the book. The solution and the harsh reality are also uncovered as the Earth plunges toward an unknown future and humanity’s learning continues.
