Synopsis
When a suitcase full of diaries is discovered in a loft, they bring to light the story of Stefan, an escaped POW, trapped in the coastal town of Lowestoft at the end of World War Two. Stefan is losing hope of a passage home until Alice, a naïve young woman, stumbles upon his hiding place.
There is much that Alice doesn’t know; that her mother is being persistently harassed by their landlord, that her new found friend is not just a vagrant come up from ‘the grit’, and more disturbingly, that Stefan is not alone. His ex-comrade, Hans, a ruthless and violent man, is in hiding too, and about to wreak havoc on the sleepy seaside town.
