The United Arabs Emirates (UAE) Maritime Saga is a book focused on the maritime industry of UAE. It looks into the history of the industry from its first operations where they used dhows to transport trade goods to countries at the coast of East Africa, and India, as well as other aspects of the industry such as pearl diving and fishing. Though small in comparison to the current industry, these activities used to sustain the economy of the various states in the region. Currently, the maritime industry has undergone tremendous changes attributed to globalization. Coupled with the financial status of UAE, the development of the industry has surpassed many people expectations as the country is ranked top together with the global players. Additionally, its geographical position places it along major trade routes allowing it to connect with a variety of countries. Hence, one can say that the UAE supports many economies, especially in the MENA region, parts of East Africa, and Asia. The growth of the maritime industry is evident with the rising number of ports along the coastline, collaborations with international partners, improved infrastructure at the port along with enhanced logistics, and the steady rise in the variety and number of vessels utilizing the port.
