No one mentions the Prayer of Samson except to say that it is a pitiful end to a sad and tragic life. Instead the Prayer of Samson describes God's grace, forgiveness and power because Samson acknowledged he had failed God, what God had done for him and what God could do in his life when he was devoted to Him. Samson prayed for the impossible and God answered his prayer! We need the Prayer of Samson today. In order for us to understand the Prayer of Samson an examination of Judges 13-16 is needed. Some of the issues addressed in these chapters that apply to our lives include the importance of a strong and vibrant prayer life, the sanctity of life with the unborn, being set apart by God and therefore ordination, the Spirit of the Lord at work in our lives, honesty in relationships, unconditional lust instead of love, perception versus reality, cooperation in God's work, God punishing evil, taking our relationship with the Lord for granted and seeking what God desires in our lives as we serve Him. Samson is extremely relevant for us today!

David received a BA in Religion from Baylor University and a MDIV from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was in the pastorate for twenty- five years in southwest Texas. He is married to Susanna and they have two grown children and one grandchild. His hobbies include reloading and having a spring and fall garden. He enjoys trying to sing with The Singing Men of South Texas! He is currently working at a gun store.
