In my slim quarter century of life, I never imagined being thrown into tragedy. No one ever does. Tragedy exists on the news, in the newspaper, in movies, and on television shows. You never would expect it to hit home and become your own reality. I know this only because it happened to me. I would have never imagined being struck with tragedy, grief, and depression at such a young age. This, however, became my reality in a swift and aching second.
In my memoir, You’re Famous, I discuss my peculiar upbringing and the ramifications that it had on my life. I was given an unconventional life due to circumstances beyond my control just at the young age of six-months-old. Although this unconventional life brought tricky and challenging situations, I realized later that this would become my greatest blessing.
This book, painfully personal, allowed me to reflect on some of my life’s most devastating, heartbreaking, and challenging moments and memories. I, within this book, capture the legacy my grandfather left. I aim to honor his life and what it meant, not only for me, but for others. I did so just to be able to repeat the line that he once incessantly told me... “You’re Famous”.
