TEACHERS WHO INSPIRE! - If you are a teacher, parent, coach, or principal, my intent with this book is to remind you how important you are and to inspire you to give your best and be your best to the children you work with daily. What better thing can we do than to inspire and encourage others? This is an opportunity we have every day working in our schools with the students we serve.

I don’t think we can encourage enough and through my experience those working in our schools are encouraged the least. I also know times are tough and don’t appear to be getting any easier. It can be a lonely position working in our schools. It shouldn’t and doesn’t need to be that way. Hopefully, this book can be a pep rally or a rededication to our profession.

ABOUT THE BOOK - Each chapter will explore a different subject area related to our students and school while providing strategies, techniques, helpful tips, and procedures for addressing these issues. It also gives us an opportunity to learn from some of the great ones that are around us daily. Hopefully, this book can create a helpful dialogue with all staff on working collaboratively to make our schools safer, more orderly, bully-free, and nurturing school communities. A school where everyone is excited and proud to attend.

BONUS FEATURE - A bonus feature to this book (back Appendix), readers will be provided information from Dr. Spurling's first book, It Is Time to Be Bully Free! (2004). As a result, this book will provide the reader with the tools to provide a comprehensive bully-free program for your classroom, school. LEA, or home.

• Bully free philosophy, survey, credo, goals, pledges and mission statement; and curriculum material included that can be utilized by K-12 educators that provides a yearly classroom plan.

Reflecting on 40 years in the education field, I have felt led to write this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I have in writing it. It has been a cool experience to look back and reflect on a career that seemed to fly by. I encourage you to enjoy each day and make the most of it. It goes quickly.

We give what we have, but how we give is up to us. The knowledge we share will always be shaped by who we are, and students will remember how we made them feel. I wanted to be that great role model and inspire my students, but, looking back on my career in education, I wish I had done more. I know I could have done more. It bothers me that I did not do more, and my plan is to do more with the time I have left. So, when it comes time to give back, there is never a better time than now. I challenge us all to be positive difference makers in the lives of our children.

Thank you for reading this book and all you do in your work. Thank you for understanding that for many of your students, the very best part of their day takes place in school, in your classroom. The warmest or coolest they are, the best meals they have, the most care, concern, and attention shown to them, knowing they are in a safe place, a good place to be, and most importantly, surrounded by great influences.

Again, I thank all of you who work in our schools for being a positive role model and influence on your students. If you don’t feel like you are the role model you need to be or could be, this book is going to be a much needed read for you. Best of luck with your school year.
