When Solomon succeeded his father, King David, as the king of Israel and Judah, he asked God for wisdom (1 Kings 3:6-9). God was so very pleased with King Solomon’s sensible request that he gave him what he asked for, as well as what he didn’t ask for but probably desired – wealth, honour and long life (1 Kings 3:10-14).
