When George contracted Covid-19, he suffered a catastrophic stroke, which left him unable to walk or speak. After two years of physical therapy and speech therapy, he recovered almost fully. However, his speech was monotone, especially when he was reading, and he paused between each word as he spoke. He was told that there was nothing else medicine could offer to resolve his speech to normal, but after just one month of emotional activation, refining his diction and therapeutic training in elocution, his natural speaking voice returned. After a few more months, he regained his normal speech rhythm and patterns. He now feels comfortable socializing with friends, which improved his self-confidence and quality of life.
