Synopsis

Cyrus McCrady, executive director of the Kyne publishing empire, is dead, and it’s Walter Kyne’s job to choose his successor. There are four worthy candidates: Arnold Lamin, editor-in-chief of the Kyne newswire service; John Day Griffith, editor of the Sentinel, the key New York paper; Harry Kritzer, chief of the Kyne photo service; and Mark Loving, head of the feature syndicate. But Sentinel’s ace reporter, Ed Mobley, has an in at the police department, and tracks the crimes for Griffith. They break the news that the murders are the work of one person. And while each of the four candidates jockey for the best position on the story, the killer stalks his next victim, driven by a twisted desire, unable to stop…
