Prominent among the western law enforcement officers were the Earp brothers, along with Marshall Wyatt Earp. There was Pat Garrett, who killed Billy the Kid; Doc Holliday, the dentist; Wild Bill Hitchcock, Bat Masterson, and of course, the legendary Bass Reeves. Unfortunately, the supply of these Peacekeepers was not inexhaustible. Justice lacked proper representation.
To augment the flow of justice in the Wild West, Bounty Hunters found their proverbial footing. For a bounty fee, hardened men and women rode out in pursuit of wanted criminals. Many never returned to collect their bounties.

Rev. Dr. Eugene Barnes, Founder and Executive Director of the Metanoia Centers, a 501(c)(3) community-based organization founded in 2000, brings a wealth of diverse experience to his work. Dr. Barnes graduated Cum Laude from Slidell Baptist Seminary in 2001. His expertise in employment, economic development, community organizing, youth development, technology, and banking/housing has been a catalyst for improving the physical and financial health of communities. With over 50 years of experience in social work and community organizing, starting with the NAACP in 1965, Dr. Barnes's understanding of the complexities of community change is enriched by his experience in private and public caregiving institutions. His commitment to empowering citizens to shape public policies and programs is evident in his past role as Board President of National People's Action in Chicago. He has been instrumental in the formation of nearly 80 national nonprofits. His most recent accomplishment was being invited to the White House by then-President Barack Obama for the signing of the historic Financial Reform Bill of 2010. In 2012, Dr. Barnes held the first Faith-Based Conference in Champaign, IL, bringing houses of worship together to effect change within the community. Dr. Barnes is listed in the 2000 edition of Who's Who of International Entrepreneurs and has embraced a new platform for sharing his experiences and emboldening his audience: podcasting (Revelation Unveiled: An Untold Story). Through this medium, he not only shares insights from his books and writings but also encourages his readers and listeners to explore the word of God in a new and engaging way. His works include Chained in Darkness Anthology, When Breaks the Maelstrom, Masami Ko, Japanese Bounty Huntress, and the Hebrew/Greek Bible Study Manual (in progress). Dr. Barnes serves with New Life Church of Faith in Danville and Champaign.
