Synopsis

A practical understanding of the new covenant is important to each believer. The apostle Paul wrote an entire letter to the churches of Galatia because they were preoccupied with a mixture of the new and old covenants, and he warned that this was becoming a real problem. In fact, he referred to this perversion as "another gospel" in Galatians 1:6. The devil would like nothing more than to water down Christianity by addition and subtraction to rob the Christian of his joy and his freedom (Galatians 5:1). This work is intended to help believers understand the dynamics of the new covenant in three dimensions as Jesus teaches through John's Gospel and other Scriptures. The transition from the old covenant to the new covenant was a real struggle for the first-century church, as evidenced by the first church council in Jerusalem (Acts 15). Just as the Apostle Peter had difficulty with it, this struggle continues today through many different movements that undermine the purity of the gospel of grace and cause great division within the church. A spiritual understanding of the new covenant as a three-dimensional relationship with God opens the door for each believer to experience all that God has prepared for all. Having a firm grasp of the important dynamics of the new covenant allows each to discern when false prophets try to pervert the truth and helps bring believers into the abundant life that Jesus had intended each to experience!

R. W. (Bill) Alderson - a graduate of Maryland Bible College & Seminary, was ordained as a minister in 1994 and planted a church in the Cleveland, OH area in 1998 and was its pastor for 12 years. He has also spent many years ministering in nursing homes and teaching residents at the Salvation Army. Pastor Bill has a passion to study the Word of God intensely and has received divine inspiration, especially on the subject of the new covenant. He is currently an Associate Pastor at Greater Grace World Outreach in Baltimore, MD, an international missions-oriented church with more than 750 affiliated churches around the world. He and his wife have six children and ten grandchildren, and they live in Havre de Grace, MD.
