This amazing book chronicles the adventures of Thomas Polywetewa, a young Hopi boy who lives on the Hopi reservation in Northern Arizona. Partially based on a famous Hopi fable by Edward Kennard, the story describes the battle to save a Hopi village from plunder. The book explores many aspects of the wonderful culture of the Hopi tribe. Young Thomas is intent on learning everything he can about the "Hopi Way" from his grandfather, the most important elder in the in the village of Mishongovi on Second Mesa. The story embraces the traditions and ceremonies important for the survival of the tribe, including the famous Chu'tiva snake dance ceremony. Thomas learns about the history of his people and is intent on participating in the ceremonies where he learns bravery and dedication to other members of his clan.

Patrick Dallabetta was a teacher, principal, and superintendent for 37 years. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1970, a Master's Degree in 1972, and a Doctor in Educational Administration from Northern Arizona University in 1980. While in college, Dallabetta worked part-time for the Water Resources and Astrogeology Divisions of the United States Geological Survey. He became a secondary teacher of geomorphology, earth science, mineralogy, and geography. After teaching he became a principal and school superintendent, retiring after 37 years in education. During his career he also taught post-graduate courses in educational foundations, leadership, and research for Northern Arizona University. He just published his first book "American Elementary Education: The Longest Pandemic" that describes the problems with elementary school performance in America. He has now changed his writing efforts to children's books for which "The Adventures of Thomas in Hopi Land" is his second book.
