Synopsis

Abba John Kame is one of the greatest monks and monastic leaders of Scetis, who departed in the ninth century. He took an unconventional route to the monastic life. Abba John was married yet remained celibate while living under the same roof with his wife, before abandoning the world for an intimate life with God in the deserts. Because of his virtues, he could not, however, remain concealed, but brethren gathered around him, and he became their Abba and guide. He gained renown and built a monastery for them in Scetis, which later carried his name. The Life of Abba John Kame reveals that God deals with each and every one of us in a unique way, and makes it perfectly clear that no obstacles or circumstances can hinder anyone from pursuing an authentic life with God. It is a story of love for God, surpassing any other; a story of courage, to fulfill God's will in one's life unwaveringly. It is the story of each one of us, who yearn to live a godly life to the fullest of our ability, a yearning which Abba John Kame kindles in our heart.
