The Letter of Jude is highly relevant to Christians in the twenty-first century. Even many of those now calling themselves evangelical have abandoned any pretense to adhering to biblical doctrines. This commentary seeks to emphasize Jude' message: contend for biblical truth, and live so that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is alive, true, and liberating.

Guy's employment involved finance in a wide range of activities: the Reserve Bank of Australia (including personal assistant to the Governor), commercial and investment banks in economics and foreign exchange, as treasurer of large companies in Australia and New Zealand, an independent financial consultant to major Australian corporations and in financial regulation at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. He authored the university textbook Floating Down Under: Foreign Exchange in Australia in 1986.His academic qualifications include a BA in economics (Macquarie University), MCom (University of New South Wales), LLM (JD) (Monash University) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (College of Law). Reflecting his longstanding interest in early Christianity, he gained an MA in Early Christian and Jewish Studies from Macquarie University in 2000. Now retired from active employment, he has more time to undertake research and writing on biblical themes. He authored Gender Wars in Christianity in 2018, which 'provides a strong voice to declare a biblical understanding of what it means to bear God's image as male and female, and to reveal that image by how we live and relate.' (Dr. Larry Crabb)Jude wrote his letter to Christians who were under pressure from ungodly practices and beliefs. This commentary updates an earlier edition. It is unique in its connection of the behavior denounced by Jude with the same errors that had previously occurred in the Corinthian church. Guy believes that it is long overdue for Christians to wake up to the accommodation of much of the Western church to the same errors that Jude denounced. Like Jude, he is encouraging Christians in the modern church to promote biblical principles in a world where the gospel of Jesus Christ is being marginalized.Guy lives in Curlewis on the Bellarine Peninsula, Australia with his wife, Bernice. They are members of Bellarine Presbyterian Church and have three adult children. His interests include history and theology and he is a keen fan of Australian Rules Football and US college basketball.

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Neuware - This commentary on The Letter of Jude engages the Greek text and is designed for pastors, theological students, and lay readers. Jude, a brother of Jesus, warns members of the early Jesus movement against intruders in their midst and exhorts those believers not to deviate from the fundamental tenets of 'the faith' in behavior and belief. It also provides a unique analysis that links Jude with 1 Corinthians in terms of their authors' literary style, Jewish backgrounds, and closely correlated descriptions of the errorists described in both letters. The Letter of Jude is highly relevant to Christians in the twenty-first century. Even many of those now calling themselves evangelical have abandoned any pretense to adhering to biblical doctrines.
