Ellie and Jenny are in the seventh grade and are best friends. One day, Ellie hears some of their classmates making mean comments about other kids just because they are different in some way. For example, she hears kids being called tubby shrimp, and four-eyes. Ellie talks with Jenny about this problem, and they are both really upset to realize that some of their classmates are being unkind to other students.
Together, these two creative youngsters develop a way to try to make their classmates be more kind to each other. They propose an idea for a club focused not only on kindness but also on having fun with their fellow classmates and getting along better with them! They did not think that a club named the Kindness Club sounded fun enough to make people want to join it. So they decided to call the club Let's All Be Friends.
They ask for permission from their homeroom teacher to start the club, and she agrees that the club is a good idea. So, the next step in the process is for the girls and a new friend, Josh, to set up and hold meetings with students from across the school. During these meetings, the students hear more about the club and can ask questions.
Will Ellie, Jenny, and Josh convince their classmates to join them in making the club a reality? How will they try to convince them? And what kinds of activities will this club have?
Read more about how these students work with others to create and implement the club at their school.
