Damacio Lopez is a researcher, activist, and author from Socorro, New Mexico. A U.S. Air Force Veteran turned advocate, he has spent decades investigating the human and environmental impact of uranium weapons. Lopez has given testimony to the United Nations Sub-Commission on Human Rights and inspired global efforts that helped lead Belgium and Costa Rica to ban uranium weapons. He is the author of Friendly Fire, co-author of Uranium Battlefields Home and Abroad, and other works. He received the 2025 Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Uranium Film Festival in Berlin, Germany.
