Synopsis

Footes Creek is a prestigious old country club with a restricted membership and distinct written and unwritten rules for men and women. When a series of grisly murders occurs, the club tries in vain to keep the whole mess under wraps.

Ed (Mac) McSorley is the chief of police in Dunhill, the posh commuter town in New Jersey that is the home of Footes Creek. Forty-two years old, Mac exists in an alcoholic haze since the death of his beloved wife two years ago. As he investigates the murders, he meets Abbey Mitchell, a member of Footes Creek and local realtor--and divorcée.

Both broken from their experiences, Mac and Abbey join forces as they follow the trail of a dangerous sociopath.

Chasing down the perpetrator was never going to be easy, but Mac will stop at nothing in his quest for justice. Will Footes Creek ever be the same? Or will this exclusive old boys club change for the better?

Elsa Bonstein is a graduate of the Newhouse School of Journalism at Syracuse University. She is a lifelong journalist who has written columns, feature articles, humor, and op-ed pieces for magazines and newspapers in New Jersey and the Carolinas. She won an award for a series about hospice care where she shadowed a dying man during the last six weeks of his life. For fourteen years, Elsa wrote a weekly golf column ("Golf Gab") for the Brunswick Beacon in North Carolina. She won awards from the PGA, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and several golf writers associations.

Elsa has played courses all over the United States and in several countries abroad. She was the chair of the Ladies Golf Association at a private, member-owned club in New Jersey and a semi-private club in North Carolina. She has played in guest days and interclub matches at many private clubs in New Jersey and Florida, and she has run charity events and guest days and has family members and friends who work in the golf industry. She was a founding board member and PR chair of the First Tee of Brunswick County, now the First Tee of Coastal Carolina.

When Arnold Palmer was inducted into the Carolinas Hall of Fame in 2007, she covered it for the Beacon. In speaking with Mr. Palmer, she mentioned that she was working on a golf course thriller. He asked to see the rough draft and wrote a pleasant response that Elsa treasures now that he is gone.

In 2014, Elsa published her first novel, a thriller called Find Edsell. It received positive reviews in the Carolinas and New Jersey and won the Mark of Excellence from Writer's Digest. This is her second novel.
