This book brings you on a journey of the philosophies of life as I see it. Trust, to me, will be the foundation to how you regulate your life. Every stage of our life cycle, from infancy to adulthood, will impact how we trust ourselves and others. If we don't take the time to do the healing work, the unhealed traumas from broken trust can cause self-destructing behaviors. Healing is actually a life-long journey. Healing from trauma does not mean you will not get flashbacks of the past. Healing from trauma means when you do get those flashbacks from the past, it would not affect you nor your emotions. Healing from trauma means you can look back at what happened to you and not see yourself as a victim, but as a survivor. A survivor who had to survive the moment. You will start to forgive yourself. You will also forgive the ones who broke their trust with you. You will see the reality that hurt people, hurt people. Everyone has a story on how they became who they are. Trauma spills over into the next generations when parents do not take the time and energy to heal. It can be a never-ending cycle. That is why it is very important to take the time and energy to heal. You may not ever trust the person or people who broke your trust. You do have to start trusting yourself. Trust yourself that you will not put yourself back into self-destructive environments. Chaos and pain become comfort when it is all that you know. It becomes your new normal. That is why no one understands why the victim stays. It is because, to them, it is another Tuesday. When you start to heal, the things you were comfortable with will start to make you uncomfortable. That discomfort should be the light bulb moment in your life to enact change. That is the moment that will either make you or break you. Will you sink or will you swim? The choice is yours.

Alvera Bullock was born on December 2, 1943, in Long Island, New York, during the aftermath of World War II. Raised by her father, a proud Algonquian Native American Navy veteran, Vanessa's early life was marked by hardship, resilience, and deep cultural roots. After losing her father to a tragic accident, she and her sister were raised by family, an experience that shaped her strength and empathy. Though a childhood illness ended her dream of joining the Air Force, Vanessa pursued education with determination, earning a degree and dedicating her career to social work and teaching. Having taught nearly every grade, including special education and English as a Second Language, she has touched countless lives. Through her writing, Vanessa shares her journey of loss, healing, and hope- reminding others that even through pain, growth and purpose can emerge.
