Synopsis
What began without deep hatred quickly became a struggle for survival after the Battle of Queenston Heights and the death of General Brock, transforming the War of 1812 into a brutal conflict. Fought in a harsh climate, soldiers died from weapons, explosions, disease, freezing, and drowning, often without marked graves. The wounded faced crude amputations with little relief from pain, while hastily formed armies of militia, Native allies, and part-time soldiers turned a political dispute into a bitter, personal war that ended in savage battles and lasting scars on the land.
