Synopsis

By day, Otto the little lighthouse loves his rock at the edge of the sea. He watches the boats roll by and waves his light at the wheeling gulls. But every evening, when the sun goes down, brave-by-day Otto shuts his light up tight. Otto is afraid of the dark.

Then one stormy night, a little fishing boat loses her way, lost in the very same dark that Otto fears most. And Otto discovers that even the smallest light, opened just a crack, can grow bright enough to bring somebody home.
A gentle, empowering read-aloud for ages 4 to 7 about being brave and being afraid at the same time. With its soothing refrain of "Shine, Otto, shine," it is a natural pick for bedtime, for children working through fear of the dark, and for every small person who has a big light inside.
