Synopsis

Los Angeles, 2026. Nicolasa Guillén, an immigrant mother who supports her children by selling tamales and cleaning mansions, survives the persecution of "la Migra" by clinging to her faith, her family, and a recipe passed down through generations. But one night, while she is working in Beverly Hills, Joaquin and David discover a secret access point to Cap-tive, a fascinating immersive reality system governed by an artificial intelligence that promises perfect fun... and offers no escape. To rescue them, Nicolasa must navigate challenges designed to manipulate memories, emotions, and desires, while discovering that other children have been trapped there for far too long. Blending social science fiction, Latin American roots, and a powerful critique of technological dependence, Tamalito transforms food, memory, and a mother's love into acts of resistance. Can a simple family tradition defeat a machine that believes it knows everything?
