At just 22, Lionel "Frenchy" Grandison had it all; a loving marriage, a new home in Pacoima, and a coveted position at the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. However, his promising life takes a dramatic turn on August 5, 1962, with the death of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. Author Crystal Jackson presents a gripping novel based on the true story of Monroe's controversial death investigation, and the coroner's deputy who risked it all to uncover the truth. "The Marilyn Monroe Connection" powerfully tells his transcendent story and tragic experience with the historic case.
The book is a compelling timeline of him meeting and falling in love with the woman of his dreams, earning the job of any Black man's dreams, only to have it all taken away because of what he discovers about Marilyn Monroe. After being unexpectedly assigned her case, Frenchy quickly grows concerned about a rush to label her death as suicide, despite inconsistencies in police reports, protocols, and lab results including a mysterious drug in her system. His subsequent questioning of the official narrative leads to turmoil, and when he pushes back on signing her death certificate his personal troubles begin. Jackson narrative dives into the untold saga and ultimate betrayal he faces when dark forces at the coroner's office plot to discredit him. Her eye-opening novel provides a heart-wrenching account of his epic battle to hold onto the life he built, while influential people seek to silence details about the legendary Hollywood star's death.
"The Marilyn Monroe Connection" is the most compelling novel ever written about the legendary Hollywood actress and the official Los Angeles County Coroner's investigation. Drawing from documented facts and intimate conversations with family members, Crystal Jackson sheds new light on Monroe's death and one man's relentless pursuit of truth.
