After graduating as a Performing Arts major at the University of Hawaii, Susan opted out of pursuing a vocal/dance career in either New York or Los Angeles, choosing Fairbanks, Alaska instead and a novel adventure by experiencing a real winter for once.Fifteen winters later, she had met and married a war-weary soldier who wanted to build a log cabin in the woods, worked with him on construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and homesteaded forty acres of raw land on an isolated mountain top. It took a decade, but they finally got a flushing toilet and two great kids out of their efforts and left Alaska with rich memories and a modest grubstake. Today, Susan and her husband of fifty years live in Missouri, where they enjoy their rocking chairs on the front porch. With one item left on her bucket list; this story begins.
