À propos de l'auteur

Diana S. Engelmann was born in the former Yugoslavia with roots in both Croatian and Serbian cultural traditions. She finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Belgrade with a double major in English and Italian literature. Her poetry received numerous awards and was published in many literary journals and poetry reviews throughout the former Yugoslavia, leading to the publication of her two first poetry collections in Belgrade.After transferring to UCLA as a graduate student, she started writing in English, focusing on the themes of exile, memory, and translation as well as war and violence in her former homeland. She has published in the UCLA collection Suitcase, The Antioch Review, Field, and Carte Italiane. Her current work on what nature means in the age of the Anthropocene weaves the history and mythology of her native Adriatic region together with the deserts and forests of California. She has been a professor of English at Santa Monica College since 1998.
