Abdi Mahad is an author and educator. He has devoted his professional life to the relentless pursuits of equity and excellence in education for children and youth. Abdi designed the first Somali language curriculum available in the United States. He believes strongly in the power associated with helping our children learn about themselves, and feeling like they have a valid place in the world. His books offer readers a powerful opportunity to build community and increase empathy.

Tsabitha Yahya is a professional freelance illustrator, having graduated from art school with a major in fine arts. When she is not drawing, she enjoys swimming.
