Humanity had no idea what it was getting into when the Known Economy made First Contact in 2047. But in the 30 years since then, human civilization has utterly transformed. Obelisks cover the planet now, dispensing free Universal Currency, free food, eternal youth, and healing. When an aging Diana, dying of a disease humanity hasn’t seen in decades, discovers that these “gifts” actually have a terrible cost, she’s kidnapped, almost beheaded, and rescued just in time by her alien loan advisor. With time running out they flee, pursued by a creature from the darkest corner of the Known Economy - a Private Equity enforcer that can't be killed.
This is a story set in the world of the Metaspacial Blockchain, where crypto-flyboy-bankers spill blood in quantum board rooms, where every decision ever made gets written to an eternal ledger among the stars, where the coin of the realm is reality itself. And Diana must learn to wield Earth’s hidden currency or see the planet literally consumed, while all along it is her own terrible debts that bind her. In space, the rich don't just want to get richer - they want to own the blockchain that runs the universe. And they'll bury anyone who stands in their way.
