Call of the Quantum is Book 2 of the Quantum Mystery Series. Book 1 of the series, I Was Just About to Call You, was well liked by Amazon readers, receiving all 5/5 ratings. Here are some examples:
"I loved this book and its characters. The story kept pulling me forward and making it very hard to put the book down. The premise of the book is fascinating, and the characters are so vividly real and relatable that when mysterious events start happening it feels real like it could be happening to me or someone I know in real life. The authors absolutely nailed the premise, and I love the inclusion of Quantum Physics and the strange relationship we as humans have with it. Great read and I hope to see more from them." David Wargin
"This is a fascinating story of strange happenings in both the hospital and home. I enjoyed the dialogue and variety of characters." Marilyn M. Corlew
"This book was lots of fun! Full of puns and great stories!! Can't wait for the next book to be written❤️" Pamela Davis
“I enjoyed the book very much. I don't read a lot but the stories were so interesting it was hard to put down. I always wanted to know what was coming next. It was though I was right there.” 👍Rocky
“This was one of the best books I've ever read! “ Michelle Carroll
The mind-bending journey continues in Call of the Quantum, the thrilling sequel to I’m Glad You Called.
It’s 1979, and Dr. Randall Biedermeier, known as Dr. B, heads the Radiation Oncology Department at the Hobbes VA hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As we learned in Book 1, the overcrowded department is too small, understaffed and needs new equipment to handle the large number of veterans with cancer. Dr. B has made some progress in correcting these issues but has been flummoxed by strange experiences with his patients. One recently deceased patient has reappeared to him and his staff. Another dying patient summons Dr. B to his bedside by apparent telepathy just before his passing.
Dr. B has always been a man of science, but these strange, unexplainable events are beginning to chip away at his rational worldview. Dr. B has also been sidetracked by a host of unusual family issues. His son, Kyle, has night terrors, has run away from home and now sees a child therapist. Both Kyle and his sister, Addie, seem to have some unusual skills that include prescience of the future. His home is inhabited by the ghost of “The Wishy Woman,” whose life ended in the master bedroom. Doors open and close on their own. Pets vanish without a trace. A growing unease permeates the house.
Both Dr. B and his wife, Zelda, seek mental health care to cope with the weirdness. As these strange occurrences grow ever more intense, Dr. B experiences unsettling visions in the Nevada desert, leaving him with questions he cannot ignore. Dr. B forms a small group of researchers—individuals drawn to explore the mysteries of the quantum realm and its potential to explain the inexplicable. As they dig deeper into the enigmatic world of quantum entanglement, they uncover startling connections between all living things, the past, the future, and everything in between.
The road is anything but straightforward as their investigation leads them through uncharted territory, blurring the line between science and the supernatural. What was originally just a theory becomes vital to solving a crisis of life and death. Could the key to understanding these bizarre events lie in the quantum nature of reality itself? As the team begins to unravel the secrets of the universe, they must confront the question: What if everything is connected in ways beyond human comprehension?
With each new discovery, Dr. B finds himself pulled deeper into a quantum web of uncertainty, forcing him to reevaluate everything he once thought was true—and to decide just how far he’s willing to go to uncover the truth.

ROGER BYHARDT is a retired radiation oncologist who lives in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with his wife Marilyn and his cat Hobbes, a largish and always-hungry orange tabby. Roger draws inspiration for writing from his "everyday" experiences with cancer patients and his "normal" family life. This comes seasoned with a fascination for the often-strange conjunction of reality and the unknown in our journey through life and long term interest in quantum physics. He often takes reality with a grain of Nembutal.
LYDIA BYHARDT BOLLINGER is Roger's daughter and greatest writing fan. She is a psychotherapist who lives in West Linn, Oregon, with her husband Paul, two teenagers, and two fuzzy kitties. This book was born January 1, 2019, when Lydia called Roger and said, "Happy New Year! It's time to write your book. Tell me all the stories you've been telling me since childhood, with all the details you saved for my adulthood." Starting with Thursday afternoons together, the father/daughter, author/author collaboration evolved into this mystery novel, filled with "true" stories and creative liberties, pearls of wisdom, and the questions of life. And the father/daughter bond was transformed at a quantum level.
