“I have battled disease since birth.
And though there have been people in my life who have known of my diagnosis and been a part of the journey, no one has seen or known all that I have been through.
A majority of the battles I have fought have been “behind the curtain.” I have fought debilitating symptoms daily, yet appeared to be a normal functioning person to the world. I faced anxiety, depression, identity issues, and PTSD that no one saw from the surface. The world around me made me feel as hidden and invisible as my illness was.
If that wasn’t enough I was abandoned by friends as the result of their lack of understanding for what I was going through. I combatted this with hiding and isolating from anyone and everyone in my life. I allowed myself to be sucked behind the curtain of my disease, where I felt powerless and ashamed.
However in the midst of reaching the breaking point I experienced healing, the curtain began to lift, and I began to see the purpose and power in my story. In this book I take you behind the curtain and transparently share my journey in hopes that the same may happen for you.”
