To suffer is to be human. Not only did Christ promise his followers that they would experience suffering, but he endured great suffering himself on our behalf. Many people, Christians and non-Christians alike, have sought to understand the experience of human suffering. Why do we suffer, how could a good God allow suffering, and what, if anything, is to be done with our pain?
Emily Benjamin’s experiences with suffering began at an early age, where she endured physical, emotional, and sexual abuse within her family. In adulthood, she walked through difficult and painful experiences such as chronic, debilitating health conditions, abusive relationships, divorce, and loss of dreams. However, through the process of healing from these many wounds, God gave her deep and insightful revelations about human suffering that utterly transformed her from a broken victim into a powerful voice for freedom.
In Hard, but Good, Emily shares these revelations, including the different types of suffering people can experience and how each one can, if understood and walked through properly, be a catalyst toward wholeness and freedom in Christ, placing believers in a position to step forward into the calling and destiny that God has placed on each one and on the church as a whole.
Foreword by Magnus Sund.
