A novel in the William W. Johnstone vein.
"Settling in the Wild West was no easy feat, but for Jesse Jones, it was an escape from his past. Armed with LeMat pistol belonging to the man who murdered his friend, Jesse finds himself stationed at Sidney Barracks, using his skills to protect the railroad. But the memory of revenge for his friend's murder still haunts him, making his past impossible to outrun.
Amidst the chaos of the Wild West, Sarah Fitzpatrick dreams of becoming a singer. But when she finds herself working for Madam Roger's brothel, she realizes it may be her only option. Each encounter leaves her haunted by her past, until a chance meeting with Jesse changes everything.
But in Sidney, the most dangerous man is Custus Leverette, who controls the town with an iron fist. And when he sets his sights on Sarah, no one is safe. Jesse must use all of his skills and courage to protect the woman he loves from the wrath of Custus' bowie knife.
In this thrilling tale of love, revenge, and survival, only one will come out on top: Custus Leverette or Jesse Jones- The Man with the LeMat. Fans of westerns and action-packed romances will not want to miss this captivating story.

Zachary Lane is a native Nebraskan; a small-town kid who has a big imagination. A family vacation to a battlefield sparked his interest in the Civil War. The 'old shed ' in his backyard soon became an officer's quarters or a fort. Lane fueled his imagination by reading books about this epic war that pitted brother against brother. His library is filled with books. Lots and lots of books. So many books that an ultimatum has been issued in the Lane household--if a new book comes in, an older one must be boxed up and put on a shelf in the garage. Zachary began writing seriously after visiting a rest stop near Sidney, Nebraska. Observing and reading a historical marker overlooking the railroad and town in the valley below set his imagination free to tell the story of life there in the 1860's and 1870's. He still lives in Nebraska where he enjoys walks with his wife, playing with grandchildren, grilling on summer evenings, smoking ribs, and stretching his imagination by writing new stories about the old west.
