Synopsis

One Sunday in August 1973, unimaginable tragedy tore our family apart. My mother, battling challenging mental health issues, became convinced that God had forsaken her because she'd been suffering for so long. Feeling hopeless, she planned to end the lives of our entire family. Minutes after my mother took the life of my 9-year-old brother, I came face to face with her as she still held the weapon in her hand. I should have been next…but God spared me. For years I wondered why God allowed what He allowed in our family. Following that August, we continued to experience loss after loss, and by the time I was 18, I was left alone to take care of myself and my 16-year-old brother because those closest to us had passed. My question became, "Where is God?", as I also was becoming convinced that He had forsaken me and our family. Today, many years later, I, a mother and a woman of faith, can look back and see God's footprint during those times when I doubted He was with us. God was in control then, as He still is today, and now I'M HEALED to share my story, my testimony, which transparently details how I made it through tragedy and now am triumphant in this life I was spared to live!
