Murder follows Myaisha even on a road trip to South Carolina. While attending the Fiction Writers of America conference with members of her writing group, Myaisha hears about the Platinum Pen award. A fellow author from Charleston suspects the award process has become corrupted.
After discovering the Charlestonian’s dead body, Myaisha becomes homicide’s main suspect. Between back biting authors and dubious conference organizers, there are plenty of suspects. A member of her writing group uses the opportunity to pen a true crime novel. Myaisha must discover which writer turned murder from a metaphor to a reality.
Assisted by members of the Greensboro Women of Color Writing Group, Myaisha searches for clues. However, questioning intelligentsia can be hazardous, and her best friend, Deniece, is strangely distracted. When the killer attempts to write a non-fiction obituary for Myaisha, she relies on the support of a dear friend. But this new sleuthing partner may have more in mind than assisting in an investigation. Their collaboration threatens Myaisha’s relationship with AJ.
There is more than one mystery to solve, and the conference ends in four days. Time is short and Myaisha worries murder is easier—and safer—than writing fiction.
