Rachelle Burk is an award-winning author of 20 fiction and nonfiction books for children. Her published works include picture books, chapter books, and a middle grade science-adventure novel (Children's Book Council/NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book), as well as many publications in national children's magazines. Rachelle is a retired social worker and EMT, and is a volunteer with NJ Sharing Network. She loves to visit schools! Benjamin Hummel is an award-winning illustrator who depicts the charms and beauty of life in his detailed paintings. What makes Benjamin's story unique is the fact that his lives and conducts his life while suffering the ravages of a debilitating chronic autoimmune disorder. This disease eventually resulted in two liver transplants. Knowing firsthand the fragility of life, Benjamin creates his art and tells his stories with the intent to focus on the triumphs and richest joys we have in our everyday experiences. He creates to overcome the struggles of everyday life by depicting imagery that encourages others to live life more fully.
