Synopsis

The Travelling Canary in Alachua County is a coffee table book, art book, memoir, and history of life in Gainesville, Alachua County, FL, USA. The book is divided into eight sections with thirty to fifty drawings each. The author was born in Gainesville and lived there for most of his life. All the drawings in this book were drawn from life between 2016 and 2024.

This project was funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, and by the Art Tag Grant of Alachua County. You can support this fund, which helps to fund projects such as the production and dissemination of this book, by purchasing a "State of the Arts" license plate at your local Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Office. The author proudly sports one of these plates on his car.

À propos de l'auteur

Terrence Ho was born in 1987 at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, FL, USA. After graduating with a degree in sculpture from Yale University, he spent a year and a half traveling around the world, funded in large part by playing guitar and singing on the streets. He then taught grade school art and music in Chicago, Bangkok (Thailand), Hsinchu (Taiwan), and Gainesville-most recently with a traveling high school in Botswana, Mexico, UAE, Greece, Malaysia, Türkiye, and Oman. Health problems due to a rare bone marrow failure condition brought Terrence back home to Gainesville, where he now spends much of his time drawing, reading, cooking, and climbing. He loves languages and multilingual puns. He lives with his wife Qianqian and their innumerable stuffed animals.
