Synopsis

Winner of the 2026 NYC Big Book Award for Picture Books - Preschool, Mama Duck's Lost Duckling is a warm, engaging picture book about a mother duck who discovers one of her ten ducklings is missing. Determined to find her little one, she bravely searches through swamps, forests, and other Florida habitats, sitting on every egg she finds along the way. But when the eggs hatch, the surprises begin. Not every egg holds a duckling!

Told with playful repetition and built-in counting fun, the story introduces young readers to real egg-laying animals while celebrating a mother's love, patience, and determination.

Perfect for read-aloud story time, the book combines adorable illustrations, a lively rhythm, and simple science concepts kids can understand. It also includes bonus "discovery pages," a learning appendix that encourages continued curiosity about animals, their habitats, and the natural world.
