No Direction Home is the musically infused story of Cry Baby, an eighteen-year-old growing up in a small working-class town who spends most of his time listening to rock music and causing trouble with his best friend, Ashtray. As the prospect of High School graduation looms over his head, doubts over his path in life weigh heavy on him. He breaks up with his on-and-off girlfriend, Aberdeen, and behaves increasingly recklessly. When Sweetie Jean moves to town, they quickly connect thanks in part to a mutual hatred of their small-town life; but, as Cry Baby's fears and self-doubts deepen, and the clock to graduation and adult life ticks softly in the background, he will be forced to confront the reality of his choices and his impact on those around him.
