Barry M. Koplen has developed a new poetic form, American Traiku. With the three stanzas in each
of his pieces of American Traiku, he intends for his new style to be to American poetry as Haiku is to Japanese.
Its longer, yet structured format, 7-5-7 syllable count in each three line stanza,
makes it possible to write about almost any subject matter, profound to
sublime, in its nine lines.
Each American Traiku aims to peer into its subject with precise intent and direction without overloading its objective. This new form intends to encourage those who enjoy writing poetry to create American Traiku themselves.
