Synopsis

I Am Grateful is a heartwarming children's book that invites young readers to explore the world through a lens of appreciation. Written by Steve Millard and beautifully illustrated by watercolor artist Susy Soulies, this story follows Emily - a curious and thoughtful girl - on a journey of discovering the everyday heroes who make our lives better.

As Emily moves through her day, she begins to wonder: Who builds our homes? Who grows our food? Who keeps us safe, teaches us, and helps the world go 'round? With each turn of the page, Emily's questions lead her - and the reader - closer to a powerful understanding of gratitude.

Whether shared at bedtime, in a classroom, or curled up on the couch, I Am Grateful sparks meaningful conversations about kindness, community, and giving thanks.

A propos du livre

À propos des auteurs

Steve Millard grew up in Arlington, Virginia in a loving family of Mom, two older brothers, and a Dad who played piano and sang in the church choir. The house was often filled with the sounds of classical, jazz, folk, and hymnal music. He played saxophone and flute in school, then went to college in southern California, where he met and married his Botany teaching assistant. He received a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington in Seattle and then taught at universities and worked in the fields of environmental monitoring, statistical software, and medical research. He has authored/co-authored several journal articles and books. Along the way he found time to write some music (SteveMillardMusic.com). Now mostly retired, he and watercolor artist Susy Soulies have written a children's picture book: "I Am Grateful". Steve lives in Seattle with his wife Stacy and enjoys visiting his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in Pittsburgh.

Susy Soulies is a graphic designer and an award-winning Northern California watercolor artist and teacher. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a degree in design and takes her greatest joy from painting and her children and grandchildren and her dog, in no particular order. Working with Steve Millard on the book "I Am Grateful" has been an amazing experience and a labor of love.
