Synopsis

Come along on an unforgettable adventure with a very special blue crawfish!

In this playful picture book, our curious little traveler sets off from a quiet rice paddy to explore the wild and wonderful ecosystems of the Gulf Coast. Along the way, the crawfish catches a ride on a brown pelican soaring toward the swamp, meets blue crabs splashing in the brackish water, and even hitches a lift with a friendly alligator headed for the beach. After a visit with a hermit crab collecting seashells by the shore, the tiny explorer takes one final flight with a seagull back home to where the journey began.

Along the way, the little crawfish learns that home is where our roots begin-and being a little different (even a little blue) is something to celebrate.

À propos de l'auteur

Born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana, just outside the vibrant city of New Orleans, I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up in such a colorful and unique place. The rich culture and ecological beauty of Louisiana helped inspire A Crawfish Tale, a story that offers readers a small taste of the state's incredible wildlife-with a flavor that's unmistakably Southern. But don't worry... we won't be eatin' this crawfish.I've always had a creative streak and have managed to find blank canvases everywhere in life. Whether I'm designing and sewing clothes, planting a garden, dressing a window, or concocting something in the kitchen, I find joy in all of it-except baking. I'm terrible at following instructions.Illustrating this book was an especially joyful experience and gave me a chance to explore new ways to express my creativity. While layering words onto a blank page may be a new medium for me, storytelling has always lived in my heart.I believe everyone has a story worth sharing, and this one was inspired by my own pet crawfish, who was, in fact, blue. Each of us spends a lifetime discovering the best way to tell our story-through the work we do, the art we create, the music we make, or the children we raise. In our own small ways, we all leave a mark on the world. I hope you enjoy the small dent I've made.
