Synopsis

Share, play, and care-because every child deserves a place to belong!

The Sandbox Children's Activity Book: A Story of Sharing and Caring by Carolyn Furlow and Amelia Furlow invites young learners to join Alba, Tao, Wiz, Imani, Ella, Abul, and Chuck for a colorful beach adventure filled with friendship, discovery, and thoughtful choices.

Created for children ages 4-9 in grades K-3, this engaging companion to The Sandbox: A Story of Sharing and Caring brings the story's messages to life through activities that encourage children to think, create, and connect. Familiar characters and cheerful illustrations help young readers explore how sharing, offering help, and welcoming others can make everyday experiences more joyful.

Children can trace character names, solve crosswords, search for beach words, navigate a maze, count ice cream scoops, share seashells, identify patterns, and spot five differences. Story sequencing and conversation activities encourage them to recall events, practice language skills, and consider what a caring friend might say or do.

Beyond the puzzles, children explore feelings, recognize caring choices, and imagine a beach where everyone feels welcome. Drawing and reflection prompts give them room to express their ideas, while a personal Sharing and Caring Promise encourages them to put kindness into practice. A Certificate of Caring celebrates their participation and thoughtful efforts.

The book offers families, teachers, caregivers, counselors, and librarians an inviting starting point for conversations about empathy, cooperation, inclusion, and belonging. Use it alongside the original story during classroom lessons, family reading time, library programs, or small-group activities.

With opportunities to practice early literacy, basic math, observation, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills, this activity book combines playful learning with a meaningful message: small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
