"A well-paced mystery grounded in authentic police procedure and a convincing portrayal of homicide investigations." - Topper Jones
"Classic mystery done right" - Johnny Worthen
Retired Santa Barbara police detective Zane Grayson returns to his rural, Mormon hometown of Mathoni, Utah to care for his ailing mother. Shortly after his arrival, he runs into Tiffany Massey, who was his high school girlfriend. When Tiffany's tech millionaire husband is brutally murdered, the Sheriff names Zane and Tiffany as his primary suspects, stating they killed Will so they could get back together and arrests Tiffany while building the case against Zane.
Zane sets out to prove both he and Tiffany are innocent while questioning his feelings for her. He discovers that investigating without a badge is more difficult than expected and uncovers secrets that things in the small town aren't what they appear, and the killer is closer than he ever imagined, someone whose crimes will rock the town to the core.
"An entertaining addition to a growing catalogue of mysteries set in Utah. Kingsman's debut novel paints a delightful picture of latter-day small town life under pressure in fictional Mathoni" - Steven Burt
"Craig Kingsman crafts a well-paced mystery grounded in authentic police procedure and a convincing portrayal of homicide investigations. The novel also captures the texture of small-town life-its tight-knit relationships, unspoken histories, and subtle tensions-while thoughtfully exploring Grayson's complicated connection to the state's predominant faith tradition." - Topper Jones

CRAIG KINGSMAN writes about murder because committing it would be a real bummer for the victim. He grew up in a Utah Mormon family and spent time every summer on his grandparent's dairy farm in a very small town in southern Idaho. This provided him to the ideas for his Zane Grayson Mysteries series - family, small rural town, and religious themes.Craig lives in the Wasatch mountains of Northern Utah with his wife and two cats. You can find him at his website craigkingsman.com, conferences, and other writer events.
