The founding generation was formed for the form of government they were given. That formation has drifted across 250 years. That drift is the crisis.
This is not a political book. Trained in Deming Total Quality Management, the author applies systems thinking and measurement discipline to a question historians have described but rarely measured: what kind of citizens has each era of American history actually produced?
Roots Before Branches is Book II of the Civic Formation Trilogy. It follows Awakening a Forgotten Republic and sets the stage for Book III's diagnostic instrument. It ends with urgent questions and no tidy answers — because the answers are the reader's assignment.
