What happens when you don’t fully belong anywhere?
Anikó was eighteen months old when illness took most of her hearing. A few years later, her family left Hungary for the United States, where she grew up as both outsider and observer, learning a new language, learning to read lips, and searching for her place in a world that never quite fit. Amid those challenges, she found solace in music—her passion, her comfort, her way through the world. Years later, she began to lose her sight.
Not deaf enough. Not hearing enough.
Not blind enough. Not sighted enough.
Living in between is rarely understood.
Through years of uncertainty, creativity, and perseverance, Anikó builds a life rooted in family, community, and love, refusing to be defined by what others see as limitations.
“Fallen on Deaf Ears” invites you to walk beside her, and perhaps come away seeing—and listening—differently.
